The Moiré (pronounced ‘mwa-reh’) III console table is from a series of pieces. Uniquely formed from a lattice of steam-bent ‘legs’, surprising ‘moire’ patterns caused by the interleaving staves move and morph as the table is viewed from different angles.
The ideas emerged from an interest in pattern-based forms, combined with a desire to explore if I could create a dynamic moiré effect in a static piece of furniture.
Moiré patterns are seen when sets of lines are overlaid and shapes emerge from the visual intersection of the different layers. All 36 legs on the table are steam bent.
Materials : Walnut and ebonised Mahogany veneer
Finish : Osmo polyx
